Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) (also called network marketing, direct selling, referral marketing, relationship marketing and pyramid selling) is a term that describes a marketing structure used by some companies as part of their overall marketing strategy that compensates independent unsalaried sales people referred to as distributors (or associates, independent business owners, dealers, franchise owners, sales consultants, consultants, independent agents, etc.) to generate business. The benefit is that there is an opportunity to run your own business with very little up-front financial investment.
