The Hundredth Monkey
The Japanese monkey, Macaca fuscata, had been observed in the wild for a period of over 30 years.
In 1952, on the island of Koshima, scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoes dropped in the sand. The monkeys liked the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but they found the dirt unpleasant.
An 18-month-old female named Imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in a nearby stream. She taught this trick to her mother. Her playmates also learned this new way and they taught their mothers too.
This cultural innovation was gradually picked up by various monkeys before the eyes of the scientists.
Between 1952 and 1958 all the young monkeys learned to wash the sandy sweet potatoes to make them more palatable.
Only the adults who imitated their children learned this social improvement. Other adults kept eating the dirty sweet potatoes.
Then something startling took place. In the autumn of 1958, a certain number of Koshima monkeys were washing sweet potatoes 鈥 the exact number is not known.
Let us suppose that when the sun rose one morning there were 99 monkeys on Koshima Island who had learned to wash their sweet potatoes.
Let鈥檚 further suppose that later that morning, the hundredth monkey learned to wash potatoes.
THEN IT HAPPENED!
By that evening almost everyone in the tribe was washing sweet potatoes before eating them.
The added energy of this hundredth monkey somehow created an ideological breakthrough!
But notice.
A most surprising thing observed by these scientists was that the habit of washing sweet potatoes then jumped over the sea 鈥
Colonies of monkeys on other islands and the mainland troop of monkeys at Takasakiyama began washing their sweet potatoes.
Thus, when a certain critical number achieves an awareness, this new awareness may be communicated from mind to mind.
Although the exact number may vary, this Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon means that when only a limited number of people know of a new way, it may remain the conscious property of these people.
But there is a point at which if only one more person tunes-in to a new awareness, a field is strengthened so that this awareness is picked up by almost everyone!

May you have the grace and wisdom
The sun may be clouded, yet ever the sun
You might have seen on my Facebook page a few weeks ago that I had a serious injury on my way to Orlando to speak at the SuccessNet.org conference. That was the culminating tipping point that followed a huge push of energy to continue running my business as usual, but then also to move my home, attend two other conferences (CA and AZ) while focusing on my physical wellness as a priority in a new way. And my body said 鈥榮top鈥 鈥 literally.
I am what I am.
We are what we think.
A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling鈥 it seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to a boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.
鈥淔or Teresa of Avila, Divine chaos was God鈥檚 way of creating an upheaval in order to break through patterns of denial that held a person emotionally or mentally captive. Or Divine chaos brought about necessary endings to ways of living that ceased to serve the well being of humanity. Whether the task you are attending to is personal or professional, it is essential that you put conscious thought into it, that you do it with as much awareness as you can, given the reality that none of us can be that aware each day. But realistically, the point being driven home by Teresa as well as other great mystics is that when you become too accustomed at what you are doing 鈥 too bored or too familiar 鈥 you retreat into unconsciousness. You no longer have to push yourself toward consciousness. You reach a place where you let habit and familiarity do all the work for you 鈥 and that is a danger zone, a serious danger zone and a prime set up for an encounter with chaos. Why would that be?
It鈥檚 not the big issues that make up the balance of your vibrational offering. It鈥檚 the little issues. It鈥檚 how you feel when you are driving in traffic. It鈥檚 how you feel every time you open that drawer and it鈥檚 a mess and you can鈥檛 find anything in it. It鈥檚 how you feel about the day to day experiences that you are having. It鈥檚 how you feel about the people you are working with and the personality conflicts or alignments that you have. In other words, the things that are rolling across your mind on a pretty steady basis they set the tone of your vibrational frequency and so you just gotta ask yourself, 鈥淚s my frequency anywhere near the frequency of who I really am?鈥 鈥淚s my chronic frequency anywhere near the vibrational reality that鈥檚 in the process of becoming?鈥
Is it possible for only you to be happy?
